In this interview, Carolyn Elizabeth B. speaks of her grandmother. She tells a story her grandmother told her when she was younger. In this story, Mrs. Laura D. B., the grandmother, tells Carolyn Elizabeth about how when she was little, her father would take her out fishing. One morning she woke up, and her father took her out with their dog, Ruler. They went out to the Choctawhatee River to fish. While they were heading back to the house after they finished fishing, they found an alligator wallow, but they didn't stay around to find the alligator. But Carolyn Elizabeth states, "Horever, another morning they all went down there to try to kill the alligator, that is, all the men did, but she went along. But I will tell you about that some other time."
This interview was interesting, but it left us hanging on the story about the alligator. I didn't really grasp the idea or conflict of the story about fishing.

At the beginning of his interview, Isaac was still in bed. He calls from his bed, "You will you'll have to excuse me, Miss," he apologized, "I neber gits up early any more because I'm gittin' so that I can't hardly see. I'se nearly blind, and I'mtoo old to work, so I jes stays in bed unless somebody comes and calls me." Isaac grove was a former farmer, and ever since he had stopped working, he had been in good health except for his sight. On day he was pulling a vine and he fell on a stump and broke three of his ribs. "Since den I'se got rheumatism and I gets weak spells," he claims. Isaac is so poor that he has trouble affording food. The are a few Christian people in his town that brought him meat, and that is the only food he had with him. People often came by and stole his chickens, so he had nothing left to eat. It was sad to see how poorly he lived after he retired. He didn't have much of a life left because he would lay in bed all day because he couldn't see.

Who is being interviewed? Katy Brumby
What is his/her title or position? Farmer from Mount Meigs, Alabama
What is his/her race? Gender? Age? African American, female, in her fifties
Where is the interview taking place? Alabama
What is the date of the interview? January 11, 1939
Who is the interviewer? Mary Chappell
Katy Brumby grew up on a farm in Mount Meigs, Alabama, a couple of miles away from Montgomery with her eight/nine children in the family. Over the course of her childhood, she moved to a variety of places, mainly farms where even as a young one, she worked very hard. She attended school, but since she didn’t have enough money to pay the tuition she had to work for Miss Georgia Washington to pay off what she didn’t have. Miss Georgia became a big influential person in her life, for even when Katy grew older her kitchen was nice and neat just like Miss Georgia taught her. A year after her father died, she married Joe Brumby, but they soon separated. She wished to become a cook, but instead became a sewer. She said, ”He (her father) never was sick, until he died.” This “story” is kind of confusing to me because I get the impression that Katy Brumby was a very respectable and well-mannered girl that affected the life and was shaped by many people.
Who is being interviewed? Jesse Owens
What is his/her title or position? ran in the Olympics and went to college for running
What is his/her race? Gender? Age? African American, male,
Where is the interview taking place? Macon County
What is the date of the interview? April 22, 1939
Who is the interviewer? Rhussus L. Perry
Jesse Owens was a fantastic runner and hurdler in the Olympics many, many years ago. He broke the world records for the 220-yard dash, the 100-yard dash, and broad-jumping. He was an outstanding role model and influence to all people of America. He went on to Ohio State and continued running, becoming the first African American captain of any sports team there ever. However, he did not professionally run. Despite all the money offers to make him go pro he turned them down. He did say that, "...since we are all Americans, Negroes should have a chance in every sport." He never bragged about his running or anything of such demeanor. He was an outstanding character and was an amazing infulence.
